Only Human | Film Premiere

We are very happy to invite you to the premiere of ONLY HUMAN — a documentary developed during the production of David Shillinglaw’s exhibition at Eritage.

ONLY HUMAN follows the creative process of British artist David Shillinglaw during the development of his eponymous exhibition, launched at Eritage Gallery in Lisbon in 2025.

Throughout this journey, the artist returns boldly to the human mind, exploring what it means to be “only human” in a time marked by polarity, tension, and uncertainty.

Through sketches, paintings, and intimate reflections, Shillinglaw questions the metamorphosis of the human condition in the face of the crises it has produced — and the inherent complexity of simply existing. Immersing the viewer in both his creations and his thinking, the film proposes an urgent gesture: to rethink human sensitivity, curiosity, and form in a world increasingly shaped by our own actions.

The narrative thread of the documentary is guided by a poem written especially for David by Max Porter, whose evocative and deeply human writing adds lyrical depth to the film. The poem is voiced by Natasha O’Keeffe and Dylan Edwards, whose performances bring emotional resonance and intimacy to the experience.

✨ Alongside the documentary premiere, we will also present a video clip of the performance developed in collaboration with MVMT Studio.

This performance brings together MVMT teachers and students in a physical interpretation of Max Porter’s poem, translated through movement, presence, and collective energy.

The result is a powerful dialogue between disciplines — where poetry, body language, sound, and visual art converge into a shared emotional experience. We warmly invite you to join us and celebrate this beautiful chapter together — a moment of reflection, connection, and being Only Human.
