“AMORES” - Ana Leovy’s first solo exhibition in Europe, featuring a completely new body of work developed during her one-month artistic residency in Lisbon, Portugal.
AMORES | Ana Leovy
In a world shaped by displacement, division, and urgency, Ana Leovy (b. 1990, Mexico City) offers a radiant counter-narrative illuminating the infinite power of connection, sensuality, and love itself.
What is the taste of love
but both sense and feeling
of the fabric
of the all?
The innate pulse of our shared humanity—
simply, to be alive.
AMORES, Leovy’s first solo exhibition in Europe, brings together new drawings, paintings, and ceramics that explore love as a lens to transform how we perceive the other, and expand us into the kaleidoscope of the experience of one another.
What we neglect to feel, we begin to forget.
In Ana’s world, love becomes a subtle yet radical force: a mirror through which we learn, empathize, and evolve.
Her visual story speaks in bold colors, sensual forms, and layered compositions that radiate moments of intimate joy and playful confidence. Rooted in the textures of daily life, her works transform ordinary beings, objects, and gestures into poetic symbols of connection. Figures intertwine, reflect one another, and occupy shared emotional space—evoking both intimacy and tension, dependence and care.
Deeply shaped by her multicultural heritage, Ana draws from Latin American, Caribbean, African diasporic, and urban aesthetics melding influences from Mexico City and New York into a visual language that resists singular definitions of beauty. Her work integrates the sense of belonging, celebrating multiplicity and affirming the coexistence of diverse cultural lineages in vibrant harmony.
The presence of chairs, trees, and tiled floors anchors these expressions of affection and vulnerability in the domestic and familiar as a reminder that love lives in the subtle punctuation of the everyday. Her process weaves blind contour drawing, intuitive mark-making, and the celebration of imperfection—breathing warmth and spontaneity into each figure. The bodies she renders feel both mythic and deeply human.
In AMORES, love becomes both poetic and political as an act of tenderness and resistance, grounded in the diversity of collective humanity. Through intertwined figures, layered gazes, and symbolic intimacy, Leovy invites us into a space where growth happens in relation, and emotion becomes a creative force.
In a time marked by fragmentation and fear, AMORES boldly centers love—both direct and symbolic as the everpresent nature from which it stems: our origin.
Embrace the moment at the intersection of question and answer:
What keeps us here, what keeps us going?
But the ever-present power
of
Love?
