José Emídio in building a voice that, without ignoring other voices, does not renounce to build his own timbre for his own melodies.

Despite their smallness, figures are crucial in the representation of space and atmospheres. They can be ancient warriors, monks, prostitutes, fauns, old men, impudent beauties, young people, circus characters. It is a whole catalogue of references to which Emídio resorts to. They are like friends who are always there and with whom it is possible to start a dialogue, especially when there seems to be no subject for a conversation. They are there. As each enters the scene, there is a new door opening.

The return to the roots embodied in this exhibition acquires a symbology close to the image provided by the metaphor contained in the stardust. As it wanders towards eternity, it sucks in on its way all the memories that can define us as unique and unrepeatable individuals. There are times where an exhibition is not just an exhibition, but rather an emotional and touching journey to the theater of emotions generated by the particles contained in the trail left by a lifetime conditioned by moments, instants turned into portraits of fragments, scraps of what we are and what made us to be as we are.

This is time turned into memorial, where moments, circumstances, persons and facts are projected. In it only in the future that we are aware of the importance of the present, which has already become passed. José Emídio na construção de uma voz que, sem ignorar as vozes outras, não abdica de construir o seu próprio timbre para as suas próprias melodias. 

Não obstante a sua pequenez, as figuras são cruciais na representação do espaço e das atmosferas. Podem ser guerreiros antigos, monges, prostitutas, faunos, velhos, beldades impudicas, jovens, personagens circenses. É todo um catálogo de referências ao qual Emídio recorre. À medida que cada um entra em cena, há uma nova porta a abrir-se.

O regresso às raízes consubstanciado nesta mostra adquire uma simbologia próxima da imagem proporcionada pela metáfora contida na poeira das estrelas. Ao peregrinarem em direção à eternidade, sugam pelo caminho todas as memórias passíveis de nos definirem enquanto indivíduos únicos e irrepetíveis. Há momentos em que uma exposição não é apenas uma exposição. É antes uma emocionada e comovente viagem ao teatro das emoções gerado a partir das partículas contidas no rasto deixado por toda uma vida acondicionada em momentos, instantes feitos retrato de fragmentos, retalhos do que somos e do que nos fez ser como somos.

Esse é o tempo feito memorial, onde se projetam momentos, circunstâncias, pessoas, factos. Só no futuro temos consciência da importância do presente, entretanto feito já passado.
